St Clare’s Oxford brings to life the magic and fantasy that the written word can unlock with three new summer courses - Calling all Harry Potter fans!

This summer St Clare’s Oxford is introducing three new courses to captivate juniors, teenagers and adults alike to inspire the next generation of readers, writers and performers. Blending traditional teaching with innovative study approaches and interactive lessons, St Clare’s, Oxford aims to enchant students and stimulate their imagination.

With the city of Oxford, rich in resource for study visits and guest speakers, students can explore the links between Oxford, a city which inspired so many fantasy books and films and famous authors.


Magic in Oxford for Juniors 10 – 15 years will study Oxford’s links to Harry Potter and Alice in Wonderland, sharing creativity through collaborative group projects including writing, performing and dressing up! With an excursion to the Harry Potter Studios to experience the Forbidden Forest and Diagon Alley, this course is sure to be a hit with juniors.

Fantasy in Oxford for Teenagers 15-17 years. How did Oxford inspire so many fantasy books and films? His Dark Materials or The Book of Dust? The lion, the witch and the wardrobe? The Lord of the Rings or the Hobbit? Explore fantasy books and films in Oxford, stimulating the imagination with creative visual projects like video production. Students will learn how to curate an exhibition based on their favourite Oxford fantasy film or book for The Story Museum, Oxford.

English and Culture for Adults 17+ years explores Oxford’s contribution to modern culture by combining academic study with site visits to film sets and literary locations around Oxford. This course enables students to consider Oxford’s contribution to science, business, politics, literature whilst enjoying this famous and beautiful academic city.
