Bath in the spotlight: culture, concerts, and Confident English learning

Bath has always had flair, but this year it’s really stepping into the spotlight. In June, the city celebrated 250 years of the Royal Crescent with a bang – quite literally – as Robbie Williams performed to a thrilled crowd in front of Bath’s most iconic architectural masterpiece. The concert marked more than a birthday for a building; it was a celebration of culture, community and creativity – everything that makes Bath the jewel it is today.

It’s no surprise, then, that Bath was recently named the UK’s best city for entertainment and nights out by Capital on Tap. Described as “the perfect blend of history and buzz”, Bath offers world-class theatre, live music, festivals and food – all within walking distance. Whether it’s outdoor theatre in the Holburne Garden, jazz echoing from Green Park, or a simple moment listening to buskers in front of the Abbey, Bath pulses with charm and creativity.

And the celebrations aren’t over. This year also marks 250 years since the birth of Jane Austen and the city is already preparing for its much-loved Jane Austen Festival in September. Expect costumed promenades, literary talks, dances and a joyful tribute to one of Bath’s most famous residents.

Amid all this cultural energy, Languages United invites you to make Bath your classroom – and your playground.

Our new Confident English and Bespoke British Culture Club sets of courses are designed for adults who want more than a language course – they want an experience or a retreat. In the morning, you’ll take part in engaging English lessons. In the afternoon, you’ll explore the city: visit the Roman Baths, discuss Jane Austen in the very streets she wrote about, or enjoy a cream tea in a vintage tea room.

What sets us apart is our location – right in the centre of Bath – and our deep roots in the Walcot Street artisan community. Thanks to nearly 20 years in the city and strong partnerships with local guides and venues and artisans, we offer experiences that most visitors miss.

Languages United was recently awarded the Bath Life Award for Education, recognising our quality, creativity and personal touch. We keep class sizes small, offer tailored support for 35+ and 50+ learners and focus on building confidence in a warm, friendly environment.

So if you or your clients are dreaming of a trip that feeds both your mind and your soul – this is your invitation. Come to Bath for the history, the entertainment, the literature, the learning. Leave with new skills, new friendships, and a deeper connection to British culture.
