Cultural Week Junior Programme at Lewis School

Posted under on

Lewis School of English in Southampton, UK, welcomes hundreds of junior students every year onto its Cultural Week programme, the school’s most popular year-round course for junior groups.

Designed for schools seeking more than standard lessons, it combines English tuition with culture-focused project work and exciting excursions.

Across a typical six-day stay, students explore Southampton’s history through the ages. Mornings focus on skills-based English lessons, including language input and project preparation. In the afternoons, students explore key attractions such as the 16th century Tudor House and the SeaCity Museum, bringing to life the story of the Titanic. Trips to London (just 75 minutes by train) and the beautiful cathedral city of Winchester, once the capital of England, are often the highlights of the programme.

Back in the classroom, students turn their research into presentations or digital projects, consolidating new language in a meaningful context. This project-based approach keeps lessons purposeful, communicative and highly motivating for teenagers.

With homestay accommodation, Cultural Week also offers an authentic taste of British life. Students stay with carefully selected hosts, giving them daily opportunities to practise English and experience the local way of life.

Certain evenings are spent with homestay hosts, while on other evenings there are further activities at the school – fun challenges, communicative games, barbecue parties and a traditional English cream tea are popular choices – providing more opportunities for students to build confidence and create lasting memories with their friends.

As Jazz from Thailand put it, “Every activity made me have more confidence about speaking English. Love Lewis!!”

Cultural Week is available from September to June for closed groups, with flexible dates, themes and excursions to match your group’s needs. For sample timetables, prices and availability, please contact the Lewis School of English.
