Wimbledon School of English and the Occupational English Test (OET)

Wimbledon School of English and the Occupational English Test (OET)
Wimbledon School of English hosted an Occupational English Test (OET) information session last month with local medical professionals, language schools and preparation centres in attendance. The highlight of the evening was a masterclass with Rebecca Bush, Education Support Manager at The OET Centre, who came all the way from Australia to give candidates advice on taking the exam. The OET assesses the language skills of healthcare professionals that would like to register and practise in an English speaking environment. It is an industry-specific exam and is trusted by regulators, hospitals and universities in the following countries: UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, UAE, Singapore and Namibia.
As of February 2018, OET is now accepted by The General Medical Council (GMC) in the UK and the Medical Council (MC) in Ireland as proof of English language proficiency for overseas-trained doctors wishing to register. The GMC and the MC join the nursing and midwifery councils of the UK and Ireland, as well as a number of healthcare boards and councils around the world, who recognise OET for registration across 12 healthcare professions.   WSE’s London Exam Centre was one of the first centres to offer the OET examination to candidates in 2013 and we have now launched OET Preparation courses which are specifically designed for medical professionals who intend to sit the OET exam.
They have full time courses running from 4th – 15th June and 24th September – 5th October 2018 as well as part time evening courses launching at the end of February. In recent years, WSE has established itself as a market leader for Medical English courses and the OET preparation courses are another string to their bow.
