Course updates and webinars at Wimbledon School of English

Wimbledon School of English is looking forward to the 2021 academic year ahead with some exciting new additions to their school-based and online English courses.

Hybrid delivery courses:
Since the school re-opened in August, they have been successfully streaming live lessons to students who have had to quarantine on arrival to the UK. This allows students to participate in the school-based lessons virtually from home, then when their quarantine period ends, they can join their class physically.

In 2021, this will continue, so most of the school's Standard & Intensive school-based courses will also be available as hybrid lessons. It is not just for students who have to quarantine.

Any student can participate in the school-based lesson from home and they will be treated as another member of the class. The hybrid students will take part in some classroom activities, be given tasks and self-study just like the rest of the class.

All of the WSE courses will continue to integrate 21st Century Skills, which the school introduced last year, into the curriculum. WSE believes that learning English isn’t just about language as the school prepares students for life in the real world.

New school-based course for 2021:

    •    Future Leaders:
This new course helps students aged 16 - 21 develop the skills needed not just to succeed, but to thrive in the modern, interconnected world. Topics covered include the 21st Century Skills identified as crucial for young people. Students can book 1 to 4 weeks, and the next start date is Monday 4th January 2021.

New online courses for 2021:

Along with the school's current offering of full-time Online General English, Medical English with OET, IELTS & Cambridge preparation, they have a range of part-time options to suit learners who need to improve their English but have little time to spare.

    •    Saturday Online IELTS Preparation
Online IELTS Preparation will now be available as a Saturday morning option course with 3 lessons every Saturday.

    •    Mornings Only - Online General English
WSE will have a mornings only Online General English class, where students can study online 2 days a week, either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday.

    •    Part-time Online Trinity Cert TESOL
After the first successful Online Trinity Cert TESOL course this year, future teachers can now become certified English teachers in their spare time over 14 weeks. This part-time online teacher training option starts in January 2021 and will consist of 2 evening per week and 6 Saturday lessons.

    •    Part-time Online Courses for Juniors: Skills for Life
This exciting new programme combines WSE's popular Young Leaders and Specialist Skills Workshops courses. It runs on two evenings per week and Saturday mornings (UK time), and students can choose to study on one, two or three days. The Young Leaders course is now available as a Saturday morning option and Specialist Skills Workshops will include Smart Writing for the 2020s and Debating, Presentations and Public Speaking. In the Global Issues and Universal Challenges course, students will explore contemporary topics such as how to combat fake news and how to think globally and act locally. The classes use fun and challenging methods to strengthen English language, teamwork, creativity, cultural understanding, confidence, and leadership skills, while also helping students look after their wellbeing.

Wimbledon School of English welcomes their partners to join a free webinar that they are hosting on Wednesday December 2nd, where they can learn about the school's 2021 online English courses followed by a Q&A section. The panel will include the WSE Principal, Fiona Dunlop, and their Director of Studies, Jo Krousso, who will be on hand to answer any questions.
