This month Bristol Language Centre marks 15 years since first opening their doors to teach English to the world, and to celebrate the school organised a week of events for students (16-20 September), including morning breakfasts and a social event with traditional birthday party games and snacks. Their students brought food from their home countries and the school's game of Pass the Parcel (with language-related challenges under each layer of wrapping) went down a treat!
On Thursday evening the school invited students, host families and local partners to celebrate with their staff at BLC. Founder and Director Seonaid Birkett gave a speech thanking everyone who has been a part of the BLC story to date – international partners who have and continue to recommend the school's services to their students, all the BLC staff, the students, and their wonderful hosts who welcome the students into their families and ensure they truly experience a home from home in Bristol. The school calculated that during our 15 years they have taught over a million English lessons to around 15,000 students from over 70 nationalities!
To commemorate this milestone, the school invited all past and present students of BLC to share with them their best memory of being at the school – BLC received some amazing and heart-warming responses from students and picked a winner at random during the evening to come back and study with them for 2-week course. The school strives to provide a welcoming community atmosphere for their students at BLC and they were so proud to see this clearly reflected in each entry.
In an industry that has experienced so many ups and downs over the past few years BLC's network of international partners is increasingly valued, and the school would like to reiterate how much their support means to them. BLC looks forward to the next 15 years and beyond!
