Visa Requirements

Before you can start to study English at a Quality English school in New Zealand, you must comply with New Zealand 's immigration rules. If you need entry clearance, book your course well in advance to give yourself enough time to obtain it.

Only a valid passport is necessary for citizens of most countries.

If you are going to study in New Zealand for less than 3 months:

you need to apply for a Visitor's permit or a Visitor's visa. Students from many countries can come without a visa if they are studying for up to three months. They then receive a visitor permit on arrival.

Visitor's permit or Visitor's visa allows you to visit as a tourist, study up to three months, but you can not work with it.

For more information, check Immigration New Zealand

If you are going to study in New Zealand for more than 3 months:

you need to apply for a Student visa. A student can study English at a private language school for any period, or study a main course at a university for 2 to 3 years. These conditions differ depending on the citizenship of the applicant. This visa is valid from the start to the finish of your course. To travel after your course you must get a visitor permit which is usually no problem.

Health & travel insurance

International students must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while studying in New Zealand . Insurance can usually be arranged through the Quality English school you will attend, but you may also be permitted to arrange your own insurance. If you arrange your own insurance, you will be required to take a full English translation of your insurance policy to the school.

New Zealand 's public and private medical / hospital facilities provide a high standard of treatment and service but it is important to note these services are not free, except as a result of an accident. We strongly advise you to arrange your own health insurance.

Quality English advises all students coming to learn English to have comprehensive travel, repatriation, medical and course insurance.
