The Emerald Cultural Institute together with Trinity College Dublin recently travelled to Seoul to jointly promote their STEM Programme. Established in 2016, the partnership between Emerald Cultural Institute and the prestigious Trinity Walton Club aims to create a dynamic STEM programme where international students have an opportunity to experience all Trinity College campus and Dublin city centre have to offer a prospective undergraduate.
In summer 2017, we were delighted to welcome junior students from all over the world to join the first International Trinity Walton STEM programme. The Emerald Cultural Institute provided the language dimension to support these non-native speakers and helped to expand their scientific vocabulary. Learners worked in teams alongside STEM experts and engaged in activities such as designing mathematical functions, building micro controlled projects and having fun with Newton’s laws of motion.
Through this programme students acquire both social and academic language skills as well as the knowledge, skills, vital thinking and learning tools that they
can use in every subject, which equip them to succeed effectively in our modern technological society.
The STEM programme students are accommodated in the Trinity Hall residence and participate in a rich and varied social programme with other international students.
We hope that this cooperation between Emerald Cultural Institute and Trinity College fosters an international community of learners who can think critically, are engaged, empowered and equipped to confront the grand challenges of today's world and that of tomorrow.
