WSE updates on their charity work and new courses

Wimbledon School of English has several updates on new courses and some of the great charity work they pride themselves on:

The Thunder Foundation: Bake Sale for Rufus

WSE has been supporting the Thunder Foundation since 2017. The school is sponsoring Rufus, a young boy from Kawangware in Nairobi, for all his school fees till he turns 18, and they are very proud to say that Rufus is currently top of his class!

The reason for choosing Thunder is because it is a very small, family-run, British charity, founded only in 2012, working every day to give young children the start in life that they deserve. The charity provides education, housing, food, healthcare, medication, sanitation and support to children living in Kawangware slum, Nairobi. With over 800,000 people living in Kawangware and 60% being children, it is one of the largest and most populated slums in Nairobi, Kenya.

The school's recent bake sale raised over £185 for Thunder Foundation, so well done to all staff and students for donating to this great cause.

New course options at WSE

Football Academy: This course will be run in conjunction with Premier League’s Crystal Palace Football Club. Students will improve knowledge of language used in football, study football theory and analyse football matches. It runs for 8 weeks from June 6th until August 28th 2020 where students will have 2 afternoon lessons a week learning theory, followed by a practical session each Friday.

Creativity and Well-being: It’s a fast paced, stressful world we live in today. To help their students manage counter this, WSE have added a creativity and well-being option course for next year. Students will develop relaxation techniques, interpersonal skills, explore some simple meditation techniques and they will also learn how to use mindfulness to develop creativity. All this while improving their English at the same time! This course can be added to any of the school's standard 24 lesson courses.

English for Life and Work: A new 30+ Course: Students will be in a smaller class of maximum 8 people, where they will get to discuss a range of topics around current affairs. They will also have lunch with a teacher 2 days a week.

Test for English for Aviation and English for Aviation Course: The Test of English for Aviation (T.E.A) is the latest addition at WSE's London Exam Centre, just a couple of minutes walk away from their school in Wimbledon. If an aviation professional needs to take the exam for licensing purposes, the London Exam Centre is the only centre in London and only one of three in the UK to be a certified Exam Centre for the T.E.A exam.
