The Lewis School of English is launching a new English & IELTS course for junior students aged 11-17 at three of its summer centres.
The course is designed for students who will be going on to study at university either at home or in an English-speaking country. Students will receive a combination of General English and IELTS tuition. This way, students will be able to develop their confidence in communicating in English at the same as acquiring the skills and knowledge necessary for IELTS. Lessons are challenging but also enjoyable and interactive, and at the end of the course there is the opportunity to take the exam.
Outside of the classroom, students will have the chance to discover England with weekly full-day and half-day trips, and to enjoy a variety of evening social activities with students from around the world. As the course is based on university campuses in Southampton, Reading and Bristol, students will also gain first-hand experience of a UK university environment.
The programme was run as a bespoke course in Southampton last year and received excellent feedback, with the majority of students achieving scores of 5.5 to 6.5. Increased interest this year has led Lewis to make it part of their official offering in Southampton and to extend it to their summer centres at the University of Reading and UWE Bristol. With the Lewis School having a strong history in providing IELTS programmes for adults, leading back to the 1990s, this seems an ideal addition to their portfolio of courses.
