A look at The Linguaviva Centre's 40th anniversary celebrations...in Australia
In 2017 The Linguaviva Centre celebrated its 40th anniversary. We decided to mark this occasion with a very special trip abroad for our staff, venturing to Perth and Sydney, Australia. The Linguaviva Centre is very much a family and one of the main things that makes our school such a special place are the people that work in it. We are very fortunate to have had nearly all of the same staff in place, in all departments, for many years (some more than 30!) so we wanted to show our thanks to them for their continued commitment to Linguaviva by celebrating our ‘birthday’ in such a unique way.
The first stop on our trip was Perth in Western Australia where we engaged in several activities including a full day trip to Rottnest Island, home to the famous Quokka. We also stopped by some other famous landmarks including the port of Fremantle, the newly flooded part of the city “Elisabeth Quay” and Cottesloe beach, famous for its surfing and shark attacks!
The next destination on our trip was Sydney, one of the world’s most iconic destinations, to celebrate another occasion…New Year’s Eve! This was certainly one of the highlights of the trip for most of the staff and we enjoyed some fantastic food, entertainment and most importantly, stunning views of the Sydney NYE fireworks display which you’ll see in the video. To clear our heads on New Years Day we took a coastal walk from the beaches of Bondi to Coogee……this not only provided us with epic vistas but was also a very much needed source of fresh air after our NYE antics! We also took a full day trip Manly followed by an amazing performance by the Beatles Tribute Band in the Sydney Opera House.
We visited many other sights along the way and had various team building exercises all of which you’ll can get a glimpse of in our video. We brought with us a special banner which now hangs outside our school…..still sporting to this very day some sand from the beaches of Perth and Sydney!
Whilst we continue to invest in our building, infrastructure, technology, facilities and much more….I’m sure everyone can agree that the most valuable assets to any company are the people who work there. We were very honoured to be in a position to organise such an event for the ‘Linguaviva Family’.”
